  • I’d love to never do my own dry-cleaning again. How do I make that happen?

    Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And the way is to make sure I’m set up to serve your condo. Check Locations to see my current clients. If your condo is listed, we’re in business! Read Services and How it works to see what I can do for you, and then simply sign up. If you don’t see your condo, ask your building to hire me. If they do, I’ll thank you with a $100 credit!

  • Is my laundry safe?

    Quite. The only people that have the digital access code are you and me. The safety of your garments is of utmost importance to me.

  • How do I pay Alfred?

    In hugs. Also, online. Here’s how it works: When you sign up, you’ll be asked to fill in your credit card information. Once I have safely filed that information, your orders are henceforth pre-authorized and your credit card will be automatically charged with the final bill when I return your clean garments to the locker. To make sure your order is seamlessly completed, please keep an active card on your account.


  • There may be lockers in my building, but I can’t be sure. How do I know where Alfred serves?

    This is an easy one. Check here for an up-to-date list of my current clients.

  • Alfred doesn’t serve my building. Are there any public drop-off centres, or can I sneak into someone else’s building to use the service?

    While the idea of a stealth laundry-doer makes me chuckle, please don’t hijack another building's service. Right now, you can try me out at 564 Church Street, my 24/7 location. Just swipe the card on your account to access and the rest is easy peasy. You can also drop items off at any Penguin Pick-Up location in Toronto, or if you’d like to subscribe to my service (and receive a $100 credit!), please speak to your building about hiring me.

  • What is an "On Demand" location?

    Glad you asked! I want to serve everybody, and On Demand locations help me do that. If you’d like your building to hire me, and you have a full-time concierge, I can serve you exclusively in the meantime. This does, however, mean you’ll need to place an order each time you need me. Simply drop off your items with your concierge with a ‘For Alfred’ note, text me or use my nifty iPhone app to place your order, and I’ll take it from there.

Placing an Order

  • How do I tell Alfred my dry-cleaning is ready for pick-up? Should I yell his name, or maybe ring a butler bell?

    That may be how it works on TV, but I’m pretty hip, and I’ve adopted the latest technology. When you’re ready for me to pick up your package, simply send me a text to 647-560-0900 or place an order through my iPhone app or Android app. Remember, always use your reusable Alfred Garment bag with ID tag after your first order. That way I'll always know it's you who needs me.

  • I’ve never texted a butler before. What do I say?

    Well, a ‘hello’ would be nice. But all you need to really do is text the service you’d like to 647-560-0900, plus the locker number. For example: ‘dry cleaning 1028’.


  • I’m quite busy during the day - do I have to arrange a pick-up during regular work hours?

    Absolutely not. I’m here for you 24 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Whenever you’re ready, I am too.

  • Do I have to be there when my clothing is picked up or dropped off?

    Though I’d be delighted to meet you, no, you don’t. I’m here to cater to you, so you’re not expected to make my drop-off or pick-up times. That’s what my handy lockers are for.


  • Do I get my own locker?

    No. So please refrain from hanging up that dreamy poster of the Biebs. Just place your dry-cleaning in any locker, lock it, and I shall take it from there. (Remember to text me the first time, though.)


  • Automatic charges are convenient, sure, but are they safe?

    Completely. In fact, I rely on my third-party processor to keep your credit card information on file. When you place an order, your card is charged through their secure network. You can be sure your private information is as confidential as can be.

  • Are there any fees?

    Heavens no. You pay for the items I clean, plain and simple. There are no extra charges for using an Alfred locker or signing up for my services. My job is to make your life easier, not pricier.

Your Order

  • How quickly will I get my clothing back?

    You’re asking me this because you’re down to your last pair of underwear, aren’t you? Well, you’re in luck – typically I’ll return your order within 48 hours or less from our pick up (Exceptions for shoe repairs and alterations). I’m that good. If a stubborn stain is giving me grief and I can’t adhere to that timeline, I may need a titch more time.

    The deadline to guarantee pickup each evening is 7:00PM. The return day will be as follows:
    Monday > Wednesday
    Tuesday > Thursday
    Wednesday > Sunday
    Thursday > Sunday
    Friday > Tuesday
    Saturday > Tuesday
    Sunday > Tuesday
    (Our hardworking drivers have Friday and Saturday off to rest up for the next week of service)

  • My coat has been missing a button for an embarrassingly long time. Does Alfred take care of repairs?

    I do indeed. I do my best to figure out what needs to be fixed, but if you want to point out which items need mending, log into your Alfred account, select ‘Place a new order’ and then make your comments in the ‘Notes’ section.

  • To be honest, I may forget what dry-cleaning I gave you. Will you help me remember?

    Of course! In fact, I’ll take a picture of each dry-cleaning garment and upload it to your Alfred account. There, you can share your specific cleaning instructions for each article of clothing and gaze lovingly at your clothes. Rest assured, your favourite blazer is as precious to me as it is to you, and I will care for it accordingly.

  • You promised my clothes would be ready within two days, and I’ve been pantless for longer than that. What gives, Alfred?

    I apologize. There may be many reasons why I haven’t turned around your order lickety-split. Here are a few of them:

    1) You forgot to text me to request pick-up for your first order.
    2) You asked for special services, like alterations or repairs. Sometimes these things take a little more time.
    3) You asked me to take care of a tricky material, like leather. This might take more time, too.
    4) You asked me to clean something unusual, like a shoe or a rug.

    If none of these things apply to you, or you’d like a little reassurance, write to me and we can work together to resolve the issue.

  • Is Alfred environmentally responsible?

    Is Carson the epitome of butlerhood to which all butlers aspire? Yes. My dedication to the environment comes second only to my passion for laundry. You can be sure that I use GreenEarth solvents and practice the most environmentally safe methods possible at every step of the process.
